Is it possible, to use a microphone without an XLR connection on it? Obviously you can use any XLR mic that you want to with it, but can you use a mic that dosnt have an XLR connection? IE Could I use my headset microphone with it?

No. That's a headphone output.

Depends on the headset. If it's a 3-pole 1/8" TRS jack (only one cord coming off the headset) you'll have to split that to a stereo headphone input and a mic output (splitters for this exist) though the mic on most headsets is mono. Some headsets already have 2 cables like this.

You'd then need to adapt the 1/8" mic plug up to 1/4", then use a 1/4" TRS to XLR adapter, something like this https://www.amazon.com/Keilton-6-35mm-Adapter-Changer-Coupler-4/dp/B0713RDZTP?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=duckduckgo-ffab-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B0713RDZTP. Once that's done it'll probably work.

If that interface has a 1/4 jack already then you're done once you adapt the 1/8" mic plug to 1/4".

If you're going to spend the money on an interface like this, though, might as well get a good quality XLR mic instead of settling on the headset mic.

Oh I already have an XLR mic, I was going to make a video comparing the other microphones that I have using the UMC22 thats all. So wanted to use the mics with the UMC22 to make it a fair test.

Theres a 1/4" socket inside the XLR socket, like two in one. Would that be the one I use with a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter plug yes?

Mono/stereo doesn't matter. if you stick a mono plug in a stereo adapter it'll still work, but all the audio will be on the left channel (unless it's significantly amplified and then you MIGHT damage something. but line level will just head to ground without issue.)

You can get XLR to ethernet, but thats way overkill for what you need, as its basically a patch panel, 10 XLR to 1 ethercon (pretty sure its called that or similar)

I don't know about the other end, NGL I wasn't listening to the sound guy when I had an induction at work as I wasn't doing that job. I assume you can just plug it into a compatible surface and do whatever you need

Wait what? You plugged a mic into your phone and it played music?
I mean thats logical cus they essentialy the same (as speakers) but thats pretty damaging to most mic's tho.

Don't know about the headset but the Soonhua should work, no clue why it wouldn't

Nope. Dont do anything, I know the mic works cos I tested it beofre i tried it. Ordered an XLR to 1/4inch adapter thingie, maybe that will work (without phantom power on ovbiously).

Well, I tried a 1/4inch to XLR adapter, and that dosnt work either. I am SO confused as to why this isnt working, please help.

For context, I am trying to connect a headset mic to my UMC22 for a video testing audio and microphones. I bought a 3.5mm stereo to 1/4 inch mono adapter, tried that didnt work. So I then bought an 1/4 to XLR adapter and thats not working either.

the umc22 has two options: +48V or nothing. Since most mics require at least some power (but not 48v since that will let the magic smoke out), it won't work without extra components. Still looking into what those components may be

48v phantom will not let the magic smoke out of any balanced microphone (as 99% of XLR mics are)

If you're trying to use a headset mic with an interface, likely it's not balanced so in that case you're right, 48V will summon the magic smoke but really this should never happen and anyone trying to use a headset mic this way is being very silly.

in this case he's trying to use a trs mic, so that will work from 3V to about 10V. I'm sure there's a way to make it work, but phantom power isn't the solution here

It most certainly is not.
