Light Sleeper - Samsung Galaxy S10 Can't Tell When it's in a Pocket

So just don't use tap to wake?

- Tap to wake is used in plenty of devices nowadays with no problems

- Disabling tap to wake will not resolve this. The FP can be activated with screen off at any time.

That's really the only reason this is even a story isn't it?  If it was normal for devices to have this problem no one would have noticed.  Like I said, tbh I'm surprised it isn't more common.

FP as in finger print reader?  Isn't that true of all phones?  What would you do if it wasn't, hit the power button and then scan?  Considering how incredibly convenient, easy, and fast using a fingerprint reader is, even just adding that little action would easily double the pita factor of unlocking.  Not to mention that shouldn't be a problem.  Worst case scenario it reads your leg a few times and makes you type a password next time you pull it out.  If it's actually unlocking on totally unrelated skin on a regular basis that's a much larger problem.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

3. Thighs can trigger touches.

I know this all too well with my LG V10

It's how some older phones with fingerprint scanners used to do it before the passive readers were mainstream.

No, its not true to all phones. Other under screen FP phones require the phone to wake before they unlock. Same with older FP button phones where the button is on the front of the phone. Rear FP readers phones this doesnt apply because its really not a problem.

This is almost guaranteed to be a one off issue and not wide spread.

It's an issue easily fixed if you use a touch pattern that isn't likely to happen in a pocket: knock knock. It's also usually easy to turn off tap/hold to wake on many phones that have it.

Though, the only reason my S8s have PINs is because of how janky tap to wake is, on every phone I've used it on. When Samsung first introduced the feature, there was no turn off, just crank the sensitivity to the max and setup a PIN. Thank god LG, Microsoft, and Samsung post S9 had the foresight to have an off switch.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

You touch the screen you can wake it and if you touch by the FP reader you can unlock it. If you put the phone in your pocket your thigh can trigger touches. This happens especially if you are sweaty.

No other phones have this problem. Why is the S10 failing?

Hence why proxy should be used when in a pocket. Samsung has been doing this for years even with just preventing a screen from staying on in your pocket or purse if the button is accidentally hit. Its  a good design used to prevent phones just staying on or butt dialing.

Except it clearly isn't otherwise this wouldn't be happening.

Because this is a one off issue. Its not being reported anywhere else. Bad/buggy proxy sensor

Again read comment above

Edit: It does appear to be a bug. The dude was able to fix it. So again, over blown.
