What 1080ti is better

Guanzo

Should I get the Gamer X GTX 1080 TI right now ? Or should I wait and get the Asus GTX 1080 TI ROG Strix.  Both of these parts are used but someone offered to give me 500$ for the Gamer X. What sucks about the Gamer is that it’s red so i am going to have to take it apart and change the color of the front thing. This is my build.

Should I change anything or get anything used ? Like my mono or anything ? If you do want to change anything make sure it is low key popular so I can find a tutorial on YouTube easily. If it isn’t it’s ok

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

Do you have this build or are you still buying the parts. It's quite unclear because of the rtx 2070.

If you have the rtx 2070 already, don't waste your money on the 1080ti. You're gaining 30% performance for an extra $500. Crazy. There's nothing wrong with this build if you already have it.

If you're still to get the parts then yes, get the 1080ti Gamer X  for $500 instead. If the strix is a tiny bit more (Say $30) then get that. If it's significantly more then stick with the gamer x.

I have the Gaming X 1080 Ti, it's an awesome card but yeah, is all black and red. It also places on the bottom of the big three (usuallt EVGA's FTW model, ASUS' Strix, and the Gaming X line), the STRIX and FTW cards have better designed coolers and such whereas MSI just whacked a big fat heatsink on everything and called it a day.

Lol, true. To be fair it does cool pretty damn well, especially since mine is in an open case. But the ASUS and FTW cards manage to have a couple degrees better temps while having a similar or slightly smaller cooler. MSI does cool the VRMs and such more effectively, but that also feeds more heat into the cooler, upping core temps by a bit.

Lower end is where coolers become fun, ASUS stick with a fin and heatsink stack generally, MSI is 50/50 extruded alu and finstack and EVGA is pretty much 100% slice of Intel stock cooler :P High end they all make decent stuff here, i would go STRIX if they are the same price, Gaming X if its cheaper ofc

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

pretty much, tho the evga sc/xc line, zotac amp, msi gaming x/z, lightning z (and aero for rtx), aorus (and windforce for rtx) are certainly great choices too. there aren't that many "bad" cards as far as I've seen

xc/sc certainly is a good line to me, I'm not complaining with 73 max after days of 120% power folding

those are fin stack cards, im talking like 1060 cards :P EVGA makes decent coolers generally but man do i hate how they look. Never liked the look of EVGA cards, not the old black ones, not the ones before those and not the new RGB and silver ones. (my 1080 is an FTW btw xD )

you should see the new low-end xc cards

3 slot heatsinks with a single fan, they're pretty good
