i dont think a lot of math nor thinking went into this at all. like ive though t of projects like this. but the ammount of batteries needed is simply way to high for 1 time use.

Yeah if someone has enough money to buy a 1080ti and do this I assume it's their parents money and they are too young to have it anyways

if configured somewhat correctly, it would work. and then instantly overheat and burst from overcurrent.

Not only that, the cost of the batteries even initially (and a recurring payment since they'll run out of charge/below power spec very quickly) is a lot more than the cost of a good PSU if done in the manner @GoldenLag mentioned earlier (still don't recommend that way at all ever).

Can I just ask what in the world was he thinking, was he to cheap to buy a decent power supply + he could have bought the 8 pin power adapter from molex, and 6 pin power adapter... The only thing I can suggest is cleaning the graphics card, try to assess the damage, ensure all the acid is removed, re apply thermal paste, and hope for the best... One other question how did the acid stay in the graphics card??

Honestly, I'm not so sure, he does shit like this in other things as well. He didn't feel like buying a better power supply. Bit him in the ass this time.

It just amazes me that he would buy a GTX 1080 TI, but even if he didn’t want to upgrade power supply, like 5$ in molex adapters and he wouldn’t have this problem
