Best OC RTX 2080

I am about to buy an RTX 2080 and I was wondering which model have the better overclock potential (excluding bad silicon lottery but talking more generally).

 

If you are able to tell me 2-3-4 good model it will be truly appreciate. I don't want any single fan (blower style) and water coolling GPU, only 2 or 3 fans.

I can't speak for how high these cards will OC but I know that the Asus and EVGA triple fan cards historically tend to perform the best with respects to thermals, thus allowing to push for a higher OC.

 

If I was buying an RTX 2080 this would be my list (with regards to quality and cooling performance not price):

 

1. Asus ROG Strix Gaming Advanced

If I were buying an RTX 2080, this would be my list:

 

1. The best 1080 Ti you can find with a good cooler on ebay

2. The best 1080 Ti you can find

3. The best cooled 1080 Ti you can find

4. EVGA 2080 Black (because it's cheap, has a decent cooler, and EVGA's customer service )

 

But a lot of people don't like used stuff. As long as you're not mislead away from used, I don't really care what you think.

 

As far as overclocking, a good balance between price and cooling will get you where you need to be. With Turing being voltage regulated, there's only so much you can get out of it. Most cards, no matter the cooler, will fall within negligible margins of each other, usually only a couple percent. The difference of 2050 MHz and 2100 MHz won't be noticeable. It's the difference you get from factory to overclocked that will be.

Can't speak for all regions but where I live buying a used 1080 Ti is pointless, because of Nvidia's outrageous pricing on RTX cars and the 1080 Ti performing similarly to the 2080 people are pricing their 1080 Ti's nearly to full retail of the 2080, so for legit $100 more I can get a new 2080.

i'd go with the evga black for 699, if you are gonna pay 800 for a 2080 u might as well go with a 2080 ti black for 999, as for oc range, the crappiest cards peaks at about 1950, where as the best once are around 2115, with golden chips going beyond that with AIOs/water.

The EVGA 2080 XC black edition is the best option if you're on a budget and don't want a blower card, if you don't mind spending more for the OC, i'd go with the EVGA FTW3 or Asus STRIX.

rest is silicon lottery luck bro all of the above have the potential to be a top oc card as they all have custom pcbs 

 

i have a msi trio gaming x sits at 2070

i had a amp that sat at 2040

and my cousin has a ftw 3 at 1995

 

but most ftws oc a lot better

You said something that intrigue me a lot, the ASUS ROG MATRIX will only be available for the rtx 2080ti ? if not can you confirm it with a source that it will also be for regular rtx 2080 ?
