Should I change my 4 years old PSU?

Neyco

Hello everyone, these few last days I've been wondering if I needed to change my PSU to something better.
Lately I started playing Apex Legends and in some areas it drops to below 60 fps, even though it shouldn't
My specs are:
PSU: Thermaltake Berlin 630W 80+
GPU: Zotac Geforce GTX 1080 Ti
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @ stock speed
Motherboard: AsRock AB350M Pro4
RAM: 2 x 8 GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz
So I thought that for these specs the game would've been able to basically run smoothly everywhere at 1080p, but it doesn't
The fact is that the PSU is 4 years old, and I read somewhere that PSU over time lose their efficiency so I was worried about that
Any other reason for that other than the PSU? Even though that's the main question
Thanks in advance to everyone willing to take their time to answer

(Sorry if I wrote something wrong but english isn't my native language)

is there a problem you have that is power supply related because a fps drop in random areas of a video game isn't power related.

thats got nothing to do with your power supply, a power supply either works, doesnt work, or sets the house on fire.

however, that statement doesnt mean that your power supply is considered way below acceptable these days.

as for the drops you're preceiving, my guess would be either thermals (dust?) or some software in the background eating resources.

If its working ok then why change it?

I dont think frame rate drop is PSU, thats proberbly GPU Driver issues.

Eh, I have a nearly 6 year old antec 650w 80+ bronze power supply and it's been fine. And people say some antec psus are unreliable and sketchy. If your upgrading at some point then go ahead but if nothings wrong I wouldn't worry about it.

that PSU is honestly fine. that slow ram however is likely holding back your cpu and could be causing the stuttering. ryzen really likes 3000+ mhz ram

Oh ok, I thought that the power supply efficiency could be the problem, so not giving enough power to either the GPU or the CPU could've caused the problem in the game or other things, that's why I pointed out the random drops to below 60fps
(Just because I saw a video in which they got around 100 avg fps at 1440p so... going below 60 at 1080 was something on my mind)

yeah what they said, the frame drops don't necessarily mean you need a new psu.

BUT, your psu is a lil outdated IMO. Not saying it'll all of a sudden crap out on you anytime soon, but if your warranty has run out and you're as worried about your parts as I am, i would consider getting a new one. But PSU's don't really die in that short of a time. Up to you really.

You change parts in your PC each time the warrenty runs out?

Blimey that must be expensive!

Well i think newer boards do or if you update your bios. Someone on here yesterday couldn't run over 3000mhz with a 1st gen threadripper. It does perform better with faster ram but past 3200mhz it used to freak out.

The issues you describe aren't caused by the PSU. Try disabling any overclocks, and check if your drivers are up to date.

You should still replace the PSU, as it's garbage.

For some reason 1st gen has trouble with 3000MHz but is ok with 3200

Yes, replace it because its crap.

But its not the reason for the FPS Drops.

You should replace it anyway, before it causes some serious problems.

Yeah, those 12 Year old PSU were also in use and "fine", according to them:

So without similar hardware for PSU testing, every claim about the shape the PSU is in is totally useless and presumptuous, because you can not test the PSU and KNOW if the PSU is fine or not. You only ASSUME it because it SEEMs to work...

But it doesn't have to. The Voltages could be far out of spec, but with normal hardware, you don't necessarily notice that. You need some real testing gear to check that....
