Installed an ssd on my mac won't let me partition it

So i just bought a sandisk 240gb ssd for a steal and i placed it on my mac now i am trying to download mac os from recovery mode since that seemed like a better idea than downloading to a flash drive and based from the steps i have seen it wants me to partition the drive and i seem to not be able to click it what should i do

Any possibility of using Macrium Reflect to just clone it over? Might help, and works like a charm on Windows. But I don't know enough about Mac OS to know for sure.

You will need to "erase" it first to format it, and then you should be able to partition it. Your millage may very but since you said it is a new drive, no risk really.

You should try to format it. I also had problems with completely new SSD from Crucial. Without formating it, it didn't work at all.
