I’d definitely wait no need to spend money if you don’t have to right now

Personally i upgraded from 4770K to an 8700K because i got it for 100$ otherwise i was waiting for Zen 2. 4790K ain't quite good enough for 1440p with 1080ti in some titles and the 8700K is defenetly a lot smoother and faster overall but i think 2700X is worse than 4790K in most games though.

I wouldn't consider the Ryzen 7 2700X personally, either the i7 9700K or wait for Ryzen 2.

6 months is a long time or not long, depending on your needs.

 

Only you can answer that, but I know I suck at waiting...  see the sig for impulse control issues...

I would definitely wait, the 4790K is good enough for a few more months till we at least know what Zen 2 will be like. We're close enough now, if you had needed a system before christmas, I'd say go for a Zen+, but you can survive a few months now, and when it gets really close, you can OC the snot out of it, just for fun, and burn it out, but see what it would really do if you didn't care about reliability. It's actually a really fun way to retire a CPU.
