Tried installing ram

Chipis

A couple of friends helped me pick out the right type of ram and when I installed it my computer wouldn’t detect it, I already had 2x4gb adata ram cards in and then I was advised to remove those two and try the single stick of 16gb ballistix ram. After starting up my computer my monitor would not detect, my friends didn’t know what to do so they just advised me to just replace back the other ram for now.

my monitor is not detecting at all right now and my computer does turn on. I’m hopelessly lost here and in desperate need of help.

i have a b250m bazooka msi motherboard, i7700k, 1060 3gb

download the newest bios for your motherboard from the manufacturers website, put it on a usb get into the bios and find the flash bios option, or watch a youtube video how to do it with your motherboard.

Flashing the BIOS isn't the answer to every single problem. It's like having a fly bothering you and set your whole house on fire to kill it, why would you do something like that?

Anyway @Chipis put your new RAM in and do this

if you don't have a jumper cap you can use a screwdriver, a cent or anything that is metal

I was just about to chime in with "Why the heck would anyone flash the BIOS before resetting it" but I see 2 people beat me to it.

Hopefully resetting the CMOS fixes things for you.  Most likely what happened is actually rather simple, you plugged in the new stick, your motherboard was like "AAAAAAAAAAH! WHAT IS THAT!" & the BIOS went in to full derp mode.  Clearing CMOS will fix that by resetting the BIOS to default (which usually sets everything to Auto) and it'll get along with both things of RAM after that... probably.

It doesn't look like your RAM sticks are in all the way.

The locking tabs at the top of the occupied RAM slots looks "higher" than the empty ones.

They should all align.

DDR4 RAM is keyed and directional -- they can only go in properly one way.

Perhaps the motherboard only supports 8gb ram sticks`? check that it supports 16gb sticks.

I just found the specs for ram with your cpu, it should work, maybe the RAM you have works with a different voltage? It is specified here that it should be 1.35V :

Memory Specifications for i7-7700K

EDIT : Depending on wich model you bought, I see online that if this is this one Ballistix Sport LT 16 Go DDR4 2400 MHz CL17 (Ref: BLS16G4D240FSB) it runs at 1.2V so it might still be a compatibility issue
