Crucial or Samsung M.2 SSD

In my build I am using a TUF B450m-Plus gaming motherboard and it has an M.2 slot and I was wondering if I should get the Crucial - MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 OR Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280. ALSO, on pc part picker it says they are compatible but I do not see them in the list on ASUS website so am I to assume they work since the 960 version works?

Either should work, the motherboard's slot should be keyed for both SATA and NVMe (the 960 EVO is NVMe, the Samsung 860 EVO M.2 is SATA).

 

But honestly, the Western Digital Blue SSDs are cheaper and just as good since it is also a SATA drive. And, in my experience, the WD Blue has faster write speeds than the Samsung 860 (these were 2.5" drives). You can get a 1TB WD Blue for roughly the cost of a 970 EVO, and a 500GB WD Blue is much cheaper than the Samsung 860 M.2

I would go with Samsung. Either SSD should work, but I have had two crucial SSDs and a stick of crucial ram fail on me.  I have never had a Samsung SSD fail on me.

if that's within warranty period, use it, not like Samsung drives and memory don't fail either.

I'm sure they do, I've just personally had 2/2 crucial drives fail and 0/5 Samsung drives fail.

crucial is cheap and fast.

samsung is just fast... and durable (so they say).

i have great experience with my crucial drives.

if it's only $10 difference go samsung.
