Well if they worked for it (and you state that they did) then I see no problem with that.

If however they were just spoiled by their parents then I would not approve.

I like reading how the underage segment of the world is still hitting the bricks so to speak and working hard, child labor laws be damned!

Go CHEAP CHILD LABOR! Giving it to the man! Or is it ...

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

At your age I really wouldn't have spent that much on your setup, should have saved for a car or something and spent half as much on your setup.

Mainly the three Asus monitors was the big one, then headset, mousepad, desk, chair, keyboard, mouse, webcam, Xbox..

meh, I'm not a fan of multi monitor gaming so buying 3 screens is a waste to me, I only have 2x one is for anime / guests to play from my pc while the other is my primary. if you include the desk into your rig, my desk alone is $ 800 worth as it's an antique wooden desk like someones dad would have in his study. I wouldn't count it with the price of my rig though. I want to trash my xbox since it's useless since both games I bought it for are now out on pc (being naruto and Metal Gear Rising)

If you earn your way in life, Great job. If you were given hand outs, Burn in a fire.

I was that kid. When I was 15 I had a 32" LCD TV with surround sound and a PS3 in my bedroom while my parents still had a 21" CRT in the lounge.

I got really angry at my parents one day for kicking me off the lounge tv because the news was starting. In a fit of rage I walked to town the next day and bought a big TV and then the sound system later. I had saved most of my money since I was 14 from my first job.

And I am still a compulsive money hoarder.

OP Being 14, doesn't do anything for me..

I'd just be saying congrats, hope you use it to the potential your spending on it.

had to work doing construction to build mine (about a $1000 PC) with no help from parents because they pretty much hate the fact of me being a PC enthusiast.

You obviously didn't read the first post, the money was all earned by HIMSELF and his parents didn't contribute to any of it!

I'm not saying you didn't earn the money for yourself, just how?

Seems fine to me. In my case I've had 3 jobs and spent my PC money on what I wanted, I saved longer instead of lowering a budget. One thing to always be safe of is to make sure you have money to fall back on. IMO I'd rather spend my money on a PC that will last years and be used often than spend money on a car that comes along with insurance, car payments, and gas when I can just as easily get a ride or borrow a parent's car.

I turn 16 this year. I'm on a 700-900 dollar setup. I made the money from cutting lawns all damn summer.

Save for a car, SAVE FOR A CAR, SAVE FOR GAS, SAVE FOR A CAR AND GAS, and spend your money however you want. If you can afford a 3k build, go for it.

Not Related: I just pushed my old 1800+ to 2.5ghz on air, just wanted to tell someone.

I will always promote saving money over spending it excessively unless you have a stable job and a good savings just in case anything happens. In the flip side if said individual earned their money and wants to spend it then that's their decision and my opinion is moot.

End of the day it's your money, you want to spend that much money on a set up, go ahead, it's a hobby and all hobbies require money. Go for it, if it's your own hard earned cash, the satisfaction you get is pretty amazing when you purchase and build something that you've been saving for so long for.

Just wondering what your opinion would be on a 14 year old who has a setup costing over 3k? And they had earned all the money to pay for it themselves by working in a restaurant?

PLEASE NOTE: THE RIG WAS $1700, THE REST OF THE SETUP (MONITORS, KEYBOARD ETC.) MADE UP THE 3K TOTAL!

The Build:

Intel Core i7-3770k

PNY GTX 780 3GB

Corsair 300R (Upgrading Soon)

Gigabyte UD3H Motherboard

16GB Corsair XMS3 (1600MHz)

128GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD

2TB Seagate HDD

Raidmax 850W PSU

The Rest:

3x Asus VH238 Monitors (NVIDIA Surround)

Razer Cyclosa Keyboard

Razer Abyssus Mouse

Steelseries Siberia V2 Headset

Steelseries QcK Mousepad

IKEA Gallant Desk

IKEA Leather Chair

Xbox 360 250GB (Don't really use)

Logitech C920 Webcam

To...much...money...TOO...MUCH... but, hey if you got the money, why not?
