Display Port just quit working; Already did a hard Reset LG isn't helping

JeighNeither

So I already did the easy; "just unplug it and let it sit for a minute", and that's not working.  I've tried it multiple times.  HDMI works, but I need my 166 overclock or otherwise gaming on this is pointless for me.  This is the LG UWS 34" with Gsync.  Not sure what to do at this point.  Return it while I still can?  This happened the way it has for most ppl I see with this problem.  I'd walked away from my system; fell asleep for an hour, and woke up to a monitor that won't come out of sleep, or has "no signal" in Display port mode.  Thanks in advance for any help.

166 or 165hz maybe you are running the wrong refresh rate.

I have an LG 34B and it overclocks to 166, that's why I wrote that; I usually run a few clicks lower in the sweet spot.

So for anyone that comes along with this problem at a later date; here is the fix.  You still need to unplug EVERYTHING, but the key is to let is sit a while.  I'd done a hard reset twice, but only left things unplugged for a few minutes.  The last time I let it all sit for 30 minutes; reconnected and the DP worked again ;)

Thanks for the replies

No, if you read the few other comments you would see that's the overclock rate of this monitor; it has absolutely nothing to do with the issue.  It was figure of speech so to speak.

Update.  Apparently it wasn't much of a fix, as I have to do this every time I wake the system up.  I'm starting to suspect this is a Windows issue.

Try it at 144Hz. Also try a different DP cable if you have one. I've gotten a bad cables from LG before, and DP cables can be screwy in general.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
