Best Chair? Gaming or Non-Gaming

cluelessgenius

anybody got some good ideas for an office chair for my setup?

mainly looking at :

bigboi proof

headrest

armrests dont swing back when the back swings

somewhat clean look not to flashy

preferrably no leather?

budget is somewhat flexible under 400 bucks

currently i have this one

81rY0DJ-SdL._SL1500_.jpg

as you can see i liked the idea of all mesh for breathing in the summer (i dont anymore because) but the mesh started sagging over time is just a crap idea

also you can see the armrests swing back at an angle when you lean back and thats just a stupid idea

also its supposed to be heavy weapons guy proof and the foot and casters are solid in quality but as i said the mesh sags and the whole thing stands on this shock that is so weak it starts wobbling from left to right and develop play over time (have swapped the shock once , after a while same thing)

its just terrible and i paid way to much for it

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

Welp..for $400 is pretty common to have a sagging mesh.

You'll need to spend more..and i mean about twice the price on a good office chair such as from herman miller.

The aeron cost around $600 and it has a good review on the web you might want to take a look at that one.

Or just go to their website.

Just don't buy a gaming chair..just don't.

Just go to a local store where they have office chairs and sit in them, some gaming chairs are comfortable but cost too much.

I was looking at maybe buying the mesh chair from ikea as I sweat fairly fast at my back but I hadn't even thought about it sagging.

My choice for ya is the AKRacing ProX black Gaming Chair. I got mine for 399 on Massdrop but it was a 150 off normal price. So u will have to wait for a similiar deal like this or just get a lower tier option for the 400 mark.

Some key points I should mention:

  • With these gaming style chairs there is the issue of quality control and with my experience when researching these style of chairs. I found that DXRacing is the Absolute worst SO AVOID THEM at all cost. But a good alternative to them I figured out was AKRacing haven't had an issue with my chair and its been 2+ yrs.

  • But u might not like the bucket style racing car chair style for me which I get. But I'm give u my reasoning why it will be fine. So for me I didn't like at first either, because well I've been using a $80 crappy walmart foam chair for pretty much ever at  this point. Meaning I wasn't used to it, so after about 1-2 months I began to like it even though it has stiffer foam. So take that as what u will...

  • The only issue I have found is that if u sit in your chair for 8-10 hrs a day for 1-2 weeks straight u will start to get soar/sensitive skin around your crotch to thigh  area. From simply sitting for that long, but thats just due to sitting for that long I doubt its related to this or any chair really. But I thought u should know.

Ohh and since I got mine on Massdrop meaning its not there anymore here is the closest one I could find for ya. link

He own the aero at this apartment and i use to sit on his desk a lot....$600 is a lot of money for your butt, but your butt deserved it..especially if you are an enteprenaur or someone who happen to have to sit for a long time in front of their computer.

thats why 400 bucks is my limit for a chair. And the things u get with a "Cliche" gaming chair is pretty good for 400 bucks. And especially in my case since I've tried those 1000 plus ergonomic chairs and they are atrociously uncomfortable and actually cheap feeling. So i would never get one is my point, as of yet I've only really liked the gaming style type.

But yes every butt is different. Thats why i state in my response and suggestion to the OP that he should think about if he liked that Ergo style more than say the Gaming bucket style of chair design. Deciding that piece is very important.

A good gaming chair with a good ergonomic are based on office chair anyway only with gaming aesthetic applied to it..the one from vertagear is actually pretty decent but still expensive.

Just don't ever buy racing chair..as they are design for a situation in case your butt goes up to 200Mph..but you wont..because you'll be sitting there playing video games.

Too bad, you should try herman miller chair..Fyi i use a typical $150 office chair that i bought from nearby furniture store..while it has it quirks but it does its job just fine for me..at least untill i could afford a better one.

Testimony here - for Christmas spent a good chunk of change on the wifes Gaming Chair (all the options, adjustable everything, extending foot rest, lumbar, neck etc).  Prior to that we had either used whatever chair was available or office chairs.

There is nothing like sitting in a Racing Seat, with all the adjustments available for comfort, and sitting how you want to sit at your Battlestation.  I personally wont buy one for myself, as I inherited her comfy office chair and that's good enough for me...but when I sit in her chair...I feel like a Professional and its comfortable as shit.  I was skeptical on the extending out leg rest - Im 6'2" 240 lbs - holds me just fine no issues, don't feel wobbly etc.

My advice if you want a good chair - get one.

I went with Homall brand from Newegg.  Their top of the line chair.  I am very happy with the purchase.
