Help with GPU upgrade for use with the Oculus Rift

Empedio

I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I recently sold my 1060 3GB to upgrade to a better card, because I had a bit of performance issues with my Oculus rift with the 1060 3GB.

I've looked a bit into my options, but i'm so torn on which card I should go with. I don't wonna use that much money on it, since I plan on saving up to build a completely new system. The absolute max I wonna spend Is around 3000 DKK (around $450). I'll probably be buying it used on DBA.dk (Danish version of Craigslist)

Specs of my current system

            CPU: I5 4670 non K

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken M22

        MOBO: Asus H81M-Plus

           RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance 4GB

       Storage: Samsumg 860 Evo 250GB

                     Seagate Barracuda 1TB

                     Seagate Barracuda 2TB

GPU: GTX 660 (My old GPU i had before i had the 1060 3GB)

           Case: Phanteks Eclipse P300

            PSU: FSP Group FSP500-60HCN 500W

I would worry about upgrading the CPU first, as that will limit your GPU options a little more.

An i7-4770 would be a good option.

After that, hunt around for an RX 580 or GTX 1070.

Agreed on everything except the 580. Imo VR is only worth it with 1070/980ti/V56 level of performance and up.

I upgraded from an i5 6600 to a 4770 and it's noticeably faster from the extra threads, and that advantage is only going to increase.

As I said above, I would recommend at least a 1070/980ti/V56 or up.

That's an F in the profile pic

That's fair.

580's got plenty of VRAM, which is why I recommended it.

As i said i'm a little bit tight on budget, plus it will only be kinda temporary, but i will keep that CPU on mind if i find a good deal.

I will probably be able to get an i7 3770 plus a motherboard from my dads work for free, will that CPU be good enough? ?

PS. I got a palit 1070ti from DBA for only 2000DKK (around $300)
