Okay... I am 100% aware that this is a tech forum, and most of us are nerds (duh) but since the community is freaking awesome here I thought I may as well ask: 

 

How should I ask a co-worker out? 

 

The biggest problem I face right now is that she's a co-worker... if she wasn't a co-worker, say someone from the same university course, I would have asked without much trouble (I think) but since she's a co-worker and a really good friend, I don't want to fuck it up (excuse my language) and if I do fuck it up, I see her everyday at work (I work as a bartender/waiter), it'll be really awkward.

Also maybe not a bad idea to ask some more guys, so it's less awkward, and then just ask less and less guys each time.

Talk to her/him (already forgot <3 LOL) figure out what they like to do or eat or both. Invite them to lunch or to go see something you might have a common interest in like a play or something. Depends on the kind of person they are.

 

Wanna go grab a bite at X place on our lunch break? (or this weekend if u dont have lunch breaks)

 

Or

 

Have you heard of X place? (assuming NO) I heard its really good, we should grab dinner there on X day.

And if it doesnt a good thing to do is ease your way in. Maybe invite her to a party with some friends or something (before i go on you may be further along than this but ya) And then slowly make it more intimate. ie. Maybe go to dinner alone just as friends. once you get her to notice that you are trying to get with her then she will either push away (no harm done really as long as you pick up on the hints and back off when she gives the hints) Or she starts wanting to be a little closer. then ask her out.

 

 

OR you can just ask her out. after all being a waiter isnt a permanent job and while it may be awkward it will only be a few years until one of you moves on and you continue to live your life.

Make the weirdest face you can. That way, she don't know whether you are serious or not. So if she says yes, you can relax and say "phew" if she says no you make another weird one and ask again. She will most likely say no again, but this time she'll think you was joking. So no harm done either way! Or just ask, worse thing that can happen is that you won't be able to ever work with her again because you're so embarrassed and you'll have to quit, but then you don't find a new job and you'd be forced to live on the street. Which is kinda bad... However as joelthezombie15 said. Its not a permanent job, so either forget about it and risk regretting it, or do it and live it.

As far as I'm aware, no (the chef tried to set me and her up, got massively cock blocked by another waiter though... no idea why the chef did so TBH

 We don't get full lunch breaks, 20 minute food/smoke breaks which we both use to chat and stuff

If you go the movie route, just say movie and then on your way out ask if she's hungry or something. Dinner is...kinda formal. Depends on the restaurant though, if you have like a bbq place or a place with a really lax atmosphere that's what I'd aim for.
Fancy restaurants or quiet sit down places make it feel like an interview. *shudder*
