Holy Fuck!

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

WOW

and you choose perfect fans for the job. How did you smooth out the cut outs from dremel? They seem a bit angular. But still, WOW.

I used a hand file for the rougher areas, and then sand paper to smooth everything down ...definitely the most time consuming part of the build :P

If I was to do it again I'd use a jigsaw to get smoother curves.

  • 2 weeks later...

This would have been perfect with an MSI gaming motherboard.

Indeed, also just realised the MSI dragon logo would have fitted this theme perfectly!

Started off with an all black Fractal Design Core 1000 case.

2_zps1231016c.jpg

Dragon designs drawn onto the top and the left side panels.

Designs cut using a Dremel.

62_zps68b0dc4a.jpg

Had to use a spoon to prop up the wobbly bits while dremeling :P

4_zps1e169047.jpg

2 x 140mm fan holes.

280mm rad along the base + 140mm rad at the front = tight squeeze!

7_zpsaca9a74d.jpg

Ready for painting!

10_zps5c559f81.jpg

Unfortunately after cleaning the case parts of it started to rust ...so I had to soak the whole thing in a bath of vinegar :P

It was as good as new after rubbing it down with some wire wool.

1011_zps1d2e08d2.jpg

Bits of "L" channel used to support the base.

8_zpsb24e2dc7.jpg

All panels sanded, then primed.

9_zpsb45374d7.jpg

Internals masked up to protect their black finish.

10_zps511c6d54.jpg

Time for some colour!

Moment of truth!

Unfortunately there was a small leak in the pump. Thankfully it was resolved by tightening the fittings, phew!

How do I attach an acrylic stealth panel to hide the PSU cables? With double sided tape, of course!
