HELP! my fps didnt change with 1080TI

Kromann

Hello everyone i just today swapped out my 970 with a nice 1080ti but to my big suprise there was no change i fps in csgo i actually feel it might have become lower, i use a 240hz screen so would love to have my fps in the game over that but at the moment it goes from 280 down to 180 and it confuses me alot since i upgraded so much. my rig is MSI gtx 1080ti 11gb aero oc, Intelcore i7-4790, Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 C9 2x4GB.

what can cause this problem and what can i do to fix it because i would like to have my fps stable above 240

iirc, CSGO is more cpu bound than gpu, so if anythings holding you back its the 4790.

Yeah, it's most likely your CPU at this point.

Yeah, It's a cpu bottleneck.

i also have this MSI B85M-E45, Socket-1150 motherboard can that be a problem aswell?

No. Because your CPU is locked, a Z97 motherboard would not help its performance at all.

You could pick up a 4790K with a Z97 board and overclock it to hell (for me, that was 4.8GHz under liquid), but with a 1080 Ti, a complete platform upgrade should be on your horizon at this point.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

But when I run user benchmark it says my average GPA should be 255 or something

A 4790 is a 19% bottleneck with the 1080ti, getting a 4790k and overclocking to 4.7 - 4.8ghz will make it a decent bit better but I would recommend either switching to a 7700k or 8700k and at least 16gb of ddr4, if you want the cheapest option an i5-8600k would be perfect, still a slight bottleneck but about $150 less and you could use that money for decent ram or a killer mobo. Plus benchmarks like that don't match up too good with real world usage.
