Is this overpriced ?

Hi, so i want to Mod an older Alienware case and i found one in my countery but i feel like the price is a bit steep, so this is the case:

Its and Alienware Area-51 from 2010 with:
i7-960 Cpu
Alienware motherboard
18GB of ram, not orignal 
Alienware AIO cooler
No GPU, i dont know what was in it orignal
he says its 1000W power supply
and the Case is very dusty and the motors on the top for air flow is makeing som noice
He wants $584
when i go on ebay i find a newer aliencase with a i7-3820 cpu and thats the same price, $584

That's a ripoff (assuming it's USD). This should be closer to $300 USD. The 1000W PSU is the only thing that honestly holds any value.

Seems overpriced to me, You could probably find another system with better specs for that price.

I would never pay nearly 600 dollars on 9 years old outdated hardware when you can get a 1080 Ti or an i9 9900K for this kind of money and start building something billion times better around it.

The i7 960, like most first gen Core i CPUs, does not have integrated graphics. So you would need to buy a dedicated graphics card for the system to work.

It's also very old, runs very hot and uses a lot of power. An i3 8100 would outperform it in games.

i7 960 + Mobo + 18GB of DDR3 RAM (odd mix since that CPU/board uses triple channel memory so it won't be running in triple channel mode)... AIO and PSU basically worthless due to their age... Broken case fans rattling... Full of dust...

Maybe worth $100?

1000w PSU sounds super wrong... Even the 3820 system cost like 5 times too much

Very few people need 1000W PSUs, and if you do need a 1000W PSU, you shouldn't be using a 10 year old 2nd hand one.

Well, the RAM alone is worth like $100 today. 
I'm sure someone would find value in the case itself without anything as well.
1000W PSU could be somewhat valuable as well.
As for the rest of the parts... Not worth much.
Like the others have said, up to $300, no more.

I looked through what was the original PSU used and it's a DELL branded OEM:

 

 

It doesn't looks too good, 1000W 80+ Silver from about 11 years ago (is older than the last 2010 Alienware featuring it) that's no longer in production for ages.

Think thats a Delta unit, so it should be pretty good actually

i only know of Delta 1kw PSUs made for Dell, and Delta make good units. Never heard one but i imagine a can of air can solve the loud part.

2GB DDR3 is going for $10 on ebay, and 4GB DDR3 sticks go for about $15 on eBay... So like $60-$75 in RAM I guess since we don't know what configuration they are using? (I'm guessing 3x2GB + 3x4GB which would be worth about $75). I guess $100 isn't too far off the mark if it's good quality, high frequency, brand name RAM.

 

So considering the RAM, you could maybe push it to be worth $150.

Hardly anyone needs a 1000W PSU, and if they do it's because they're running a Threadripper 2990WX and 2x Titan RTX. If they're running a $7500 system they should not be buying a 10 year old 2nd hand power supply!

Google ^^, just looked through any specific Alienwares from 2010 that featured a 1000w PSU and when I got a reference I looked on eBay for the photos of the unit.

 

Considering Alienware is a DELL gaming prebuild line up, everything seems in order.

Damn, I found lots of websites with specs for the Alienware system with the i7 960 but none of them mentioned what PSU was in it (in typical pre-built fashion), except one other forum post listing "1000W+ PSU".
