1070ti or rtx 2070

DaveTheFox

I was going to buy this

https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1070-Ti-G...

But for same price i could also get
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N2070WF3-8GC#...
https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-2070-ARMO...
https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-2070-VENT...

Theyre all within £10 of each other. From what i can see the 2070 is better. I havent researched these particular models though. The fact that they seem much cheaper than others raises question marks for me.

What do you all think i should go with? Im still leaning towards the 1070 ti because i have no doubts about its quality.

Ill be using the card with a Ryzen 2600x

Newer and better performance. And you get ray tracing.

Nvlink is not supported for rtx 2070.

Honestly i'd go with the 2070 if i'm being honest, I'm actually going to be upping my own GPU in the next coming year, up from a GTX 1060 6GB.  At this time the RTX 2070 would give you better preformance and better future proofing than the 1070, although the 1070 is still a really solid card so it's up to you. In either case the 1070/2070 are the biggest bangs for their bucks in their generations, so if you're wanting to save some money, do the 1070, otherwise do the 2070 IMO

just grab the cheapest version of the 1070 ti, the 2070 is 15-20% faster so whether thats worth the extra 150 is up to you.

The 1070ti is voltage locked and has no factory overclocking, so I'd say RTX 2070 (or GTX 1080 if its cheaper)

The 3 2070s i posted are more or less same price as msi 1070ti gaming, nobody has said anything about the quality of those particular cards though. Not sure if theyre of a lower quality hence the pricing compared to teh rog strix 2070 which is nearly £200 more.

THEN obviously the RTX 2070 is a much better card than the 1070ti so if the price is similar it's a no brainer.

Wouldnt say its a no brainer as there are various 2070 cards and their prices vary wildly. I also have no experience so i have no idea which is the better card. Hence why im trying to find some guidance on here. There has also been a lot of negative discussion regarding the 2070. Must be a reason for certain 2070s being so cheap compared to the strix 2070 or the Aorus extreme. Both of those cards are nearly £200 more than the ventus or armour despite them all being 2070s. Makes me suspicious of those cheaper models.

They look fine tbh. I would get the gigabyte one for better cooling and +10 mhz, but the armor is also good if you want the usb-c output. If they are within 10 euro's of eachother, then go for the 2070. I was informed that the 2070 dosen't have nvlink, but that dosen't matter. Still a newer card and a slightly faster one than the 1070ti. If your gonna be paying more than 30-50 euro's then I wouldn't.
