Does the ASUS ROG Strix B360-F Gaming Motherboard work with the i5 9600K CPU?

Yes but you will not be able to overclock. If you want to overclock your CPU, you will need a Z390 motherboard. Z370 works also but you will need to update the BOIS, so probably better to just get a Z390

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

It would require a bios update to work. Also the b360 chipset doesn't support overclocking so the 9600k would be sorta a waste in 8th at motherboard.

While it does this pair is bad given B360 chipset doesn't allow overclocking, if you don't want to overclock the i7 8700 is a better alternative for this motherboard as it's the best locked processor in the market.

Since the B360 chipset doesn't support overclocking, you might as well save money and get an i5-8600 or even an i7-8700 for a bit more if you don't want to spend a lot more money and get a Z370 or Z390 chipset mobo.
