Can some one recommend a good 850W Good PSU?

Waynelu127

I still think the AX1200I is the best PSU I have ever owned. Now that prices have come down on them I might snatch up another 1 or 2. I might not need the wattage but the 10 year warranty and silent operation of this thing rocks.

Oh ok. Now between these two https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IKDETOC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1XBPHGHAXLHDG&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CGYCNG2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1XBPHGHAXLHDG&psc=1 both are G2 and the same price but the other one is 150w more.

Why is that or is it just a sale?

Why do you need over 550w?  That's more the question.

Yes, sale.

Yes, sale.

I’m pretty sure the RX 2080 recommends 650w but I also want to future proof.

The recommendation assumes a worst case scenario, with a crappy PSU.

Future proof? For what? You can't run more than 2 way SLI/NVLink, and Vega in CF doesn't seem likely for you. All you're doing is getting a worse PSU deal, by getting a silly high wattage PSU.

Oh alright, I’m fairly new to this I apologize. Would 750w still be overkill?

Haha, don't apologise. There's absolutely no reason to.

For a single GPU setup and a mainstream platform, yes it would be overkill. A good 550-650W is plenty. ~$80-90 is enough to get a good, high end PSU. You can find testing of the noise of many PSUs on Cybenetics.

https://www.cybenetics.com/index.php?option=database

The Whisper M and RMx 2018 are priced at ~$80. They use the same platform, and their cables are interchangeable, in case you want to get custom ones.

The Whisper M has a better fan and multi rail. The RMx has a longer warranty.

If you want to run multi GPU or HEDT, the RM750x 2018 is really well priced, at $90 without rebate. It also has two CPU power cables for HEDT.

I'm sorry for getting triggered, but they don't use the same platform - they use completely different ones in fact, every part is different. But they're equal in performance indeed, and that's what matters.

Wait, what? I though they were the same. Thanks for correcting me.

I know, they both look familiar and they both use this "trendy" layout of having the main transformer in the middle, then the minor rail VRMs between it and the modular board. But if you open photos of both in separate tabs, and switch between them, you'll notice that not even a single component has the same place in both PSUs:

Well, maybe except the PFC coil in the top left. Other than that, the differences are more than just components slightly changing places: RMx 2018 uses a vertical board for +12V FETs, while Whipser has them on the underside of main PCB and that's already a major change. Every part number is also different in the component tables that Aris includes, so that's a point too.

Like the title says can someone recommend a quiet, efficient and overall good Gold 850w PSU? It doesn’t matter if it’s fully modular or semi. Budget is $70-150.

The Corsair RMx PSU's fit all the criteria you set as other have mentioned.  They are a great balance of feature set, reliability, and pricing.  Let me know if you have any questions about the unit.

Hi, I’m just wondering that’s the difference between the 18 and older version?

For the rm750x 2018 vs older, the 2018 version is 15mm shorter, has 9 SATA cables vs 8, and has 2 4+4 EPS cables (CPU power cables) for HEDT.

Quality wise they're both good.

I just want to make sure I am future proofing my PC and have enough room for upgrading,

bullshit

you don't need 850W unless you plan to SLI/xfire or use HEDT cpus

get a high quality PSU bc that's the best way to future proof. If you ever needed more wattage for big systems, then you could probably afford a psu anyway so focus on having the best reliability for now.
