Best GPU for Quad Video Wall Setup

Hello,

Does someone have experience with making a video wall with 4 monitors (each is FullHD)?

What is the best GPU for connecting up to 4 monitors, getting resolution of 7680x4320 ?

GPU will only be used to play video, so its 8k?

What CPU i need in order it to work smoothly?

Umm, 4 x Full HD is 4K. 2x2 grid, 2x1920 and 2x1080 = 3840x2160.

 

For the GPU and CPU i don't have anything specific.

And yes 1050Ti and i3 6100 should be able to playback 4K video. BUT take in mind that 1050Ti only has 3 output ports.

It has 3 hdmi + 1 display port and 1 DVI.

I was thinking buying RX580 4gb and ryzen 3.

We need to make this setup for some company in order to play some videos for customers in their shop, so there are no comprimises, it must work perfectly.

Oh, then you really need something better . Ryzen 3 and RX580 should work fine even if they need transcoding/encoding for the video. Best bet is to get the best you can and 8-16Gb ram to be sure.

FullHD is 1080p, so 4 monitors would be 4k. if its only gonna be used for playing videos and not gaming, meaning you dont need to worry about refresh rate or imput lag. i would suggest thinking about just getting a large 4k tv. you would save yourself some money, and wouldnt have bezels in the middle of your display.

If all you're doing is playing a pre-rendered video, pretty much anything can do it. Ryzen 3 and whatever GPU you want to put in it is fine. Or just get like a 2200G or 2400G.

unless your intention is to run something different on each display.

yeah if you're playing only 4 1080p videos then yeah anything from the past 10 years with 4 video outputs should be able to do that

Yea, for the 4K part check the list i posted. Those are minimum to run 4K video smoothly.

you only need a gpu that has 4 outputs

so an rx580 will offer no benefit other than it simply having the outputs. it's 4k video performance is identicle to every entry level gpu that exists

buy quadro with 4 or 5 mDP and you are good to go, it is meant for such applications

if you were playing a 1080p video across 4 monitors it would still be the same number of pixels as 1 4k screen. for your use case I highly highly recommend a 4k tv. it will be cheaper, simpler, and look better than 4 monitors with bezels in the middle. or even a 4k monitor depending on how big you want the display to be and your budget.

 

as far as hardware goes, if you go with a 4k tv, a 1060-1070 should be ok since it is prerendered video. if you decide on 4 1080p monitors, i would get a gtx 1070 minimum.

I'm not 100% positive, but I thought the 1070 was the starting point for 4 outputs. But I do agree that for pre-rendered 2d a 1050 would be fine.

with the price difference between the 1050 and 1060 being less than $100 I would always recommend somebody go with the 1060. just because with the limited info you cant account for all use cases, and it would last longer. it also has a better price per performance.
