Low Frame Rate with new Monitor

Hello,

 

I recently purchased a new monitor to accompany my gaming laptop.

The monitor works perfectly, except for CS:GO, which is barely playable because the frame rate is crippled by the monitor.

 

CS:GO runs at about 115-150 fps without the monitor at 1080p, but plug the monitor in and it immediately goes down to about 60 fps. Also, the response time is a bit laggy, even though the monitor should have a fast response time. It ranges from 1-4 ms.

 

Here are the specs for my PC and monitor:

PC:

Intel i5-7300

GTX1050

12 GB RAM

128gb ssd/1tb hdd

Monitor:

"ViewSonic VX2452MH 24 Inch 2ms 75Hz 1080p Gaming Monitor with HDMI DVI and VGA inputs"

75hz, 60hz on my settings

1080p

2ms response time

 

Any help in improving frame rate and response time for CS would be helpful, I also wonder if I get another monitor if that will fix it. I know a large screen will reduce frame rate, but I did not expect this much, and it shouldn't be this laggy.

factory response time values don't mean anything because there's no uniform way of testing it. No it's not input lag measurement either.

Do you mean input lag? Response time is how long it takes to change all the pixels on the screen.

Is this problem when you have 2 monitors connected? Or just the problem one?

It's a laptop. I have one monitor connected, and have tried shutting off the laptop screen, to no avail

Wait how do you set it to 75hz in cs? sorry I've never dones this

Oh do you mean the 7300HQ?

Have you also tried changing your default display in the display settings?

Never mind, just shut off vsync and laptop screen, back to 150fps! Thanks a lot! :)
