Best External Dac to Improve Sound Quality

TheNinjaNextDor

I know absolutely nothing about audio except the basic stuff and my Xonar DX was DOA. Instead of getting a replacement I want to get an external solution instead because I heard they are better. What would you recommend for about $50 to $80 that will sound better than my onboard sound? Thanks!

Oh no! What would be a good way to have mic support?

External DACs currently do not support mic input...........someone must be able to help you out with that!

Astro A40. Pretty good for gaming headphones.

Don't get a different DAC if you're using A40s. They use the optical S/PDIF output. The A40's MixAmp is the DAC and chances are you'll get little benefit.

Mayflower is just above my current budget, they need to design something similar for mass production at the same price range as the fiio e10.

Easier said than done ;)

You have to cut a lot of corners to bring a good product to market under $100, something we don't want to do.
