1060 3gb vs 1060 6gb

Is the difference between these 2 cards worth the extra cost? Or would it be smart to just take my $60 elsewhere to potentially buy more ram or something.

 

My current specs are an AMD FX 6300 6 core processor, a Gigabyte 970A-D3SP mb, 8 GB ddr3 ram at 1600 mhz, and an AMD RX 560 2GB for my GPU.

1060 6GB has a more powerful GPU and more vram. better card overall.

But is the difference significant enough to warrant buying it? Like is it noticeably better or would a 3 gb feel basically the same?

yes it is worth it for the 6gb oiver the 3gb also most games will use alot of the 3gb Vram anyways better to get the 6gb and better performancev

if you dont know the difference already it would "feel the same" but if you played on your 1060 3gb and then on your friends 6gb youd notice he gets more FPS at the same settings or better settings at still better fps

Same card just has more video memory but the way games are going go with the 6 GB or the 3 GB will do just fine.

The 1060 3gb actually has less cuda cores making it slightly slower.

not true the 3gb card has less memory bandwidth and less performance over all also less cores and shaders its a 1060 lite

I wouldn’t say noticeable at about a 15% difference at 1080p gaming. An extra 10 framed might be the difference between a 50fps and a 60fps but the 1060 can run 1080p fairly well. If I were you I’d dedicate the extra $60 to something else.

imo, the improvement in performance does not worth that money,

both will be able to play at high settings (not highest) with only 5-10fps diff.. 

Dont worry about the vram, the power of gtx1060 will be maxed out way before vram

Yeah...no.
Several triple A games even at 1080p already exceed the 3gb frame buffer.

 

The 1060 6gb is worth it.

 

 

Although you should upgrade your CPU first.

a 6gb max oc is about 15% faster than a 3gb max oc, for 250usd, just go with the 6gb, or the rx580 for 200usd, unless you have gsync, ur cpu will bottleneck...stuff, i'd say upgrade cpu first.
