Do I need to get a new GPU?

Bazsalikom

I bought a used gtx 760 this monday the first minor issue happened yesterday, the taskbar had a slight discoloration like on the attached picture. After that today after quitting a game it went down to the lowest resolution while in desktop. A reboot fixed it. Then came this, also fixed by a reboot. Do I need to get a new GPU?

I would try driver re-installation first. use DDU to clean it first. I had my titan flip out because it was using to new of a driver and everything was kinda like that, but also black and white.

Well after doing what you suggested it seems to be working fine. But just to mention the seller said he would take it back if any problem is detected. Should I just do that anyway?

Yes, this looks like artifacting to me. Most likely the GPU is dying from being OCed or something. My suggestion is to invest in a new, not used GPU. You could treat yourself if you want to consider you bought a faulty product. There are potential fixes out there like the oven baking method which I'm not sure works but if the GPU is toast it couldn't hurt to try some new fixes! I will leave some pics of artifacting down here to compare to your posted picture.

Return it back to him. Also if you decide to buy used GPU, I wouldn't recommend to do it online, without physical testing. In this world you can't trust anyone, especially in online world. People will lie to sell their stuff.
