Buying a laptop for a colleague

Go to solution Solved by JSind11,

Thanks for your suggestions people,

He went for this in the end : https://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-asus-tuf-gaming-fx504ge-e4031t-fhd-i5-8300h-8gb-ddr4-128gb-m2-pcie-nvme-ssdplus1tb-hdd-4gb-gtx-1

but got it for £729 and next day delivery.

Trying to help a colleague but a laptop. Has only two specifications for it.

1. wants to do casual photo editing on it with Photoshop. (sometimes raw images)

2. it has to be able to run the Sims 4.

Can go upto £1000 , and we live in the UK.

He is also just as impatient as me, so he wants it as soon as possible. And I need to stress this he is very impatient. I mean If i dont help him buy somethign this weekend, he might just go and buy a Mac on Monday.

Let him buy a Mac. Decent machines. For that budget, though, you won't be running the Sims on one :P

Really? Sims wouldn't run on on a £1000 laptop? Is it even that intensive a game? Im asking as I have no Idea having never played one.

I was thinking IPS too , I was just unsure of the availability of IPS in this price range.

Sorry, have you got any info on the cooling issues? I have not been able to find anything to say so? Also what is wrong with the build quality? Reviews I have seen do not seem to have have bashed the quality at all.

See Ultrabookreview and Notebookcheck. Also many users are complaining this issue in forums (LTT, KBR etc).
