Ninite will handle most commonly installed applications ;)  browsers, PDF readers, free antivirus options, unzippers, etc.

After that I typically go for other software for my peripherals (logitech gaming for instance) and then MS Office.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

Shouldn't basic software come first before RGB? xD

W10 comes with Windows Defender, it's a pretty good basic anti-virus.

Check if your drivers are up to date, download 7 Zip, get plug-ins, some sort of office tools, browser of your choice (unless you want to use Edge for your PH needs).

This is very personal to each person... I'd first of all things edit the Windows 10 to be like Windows 7, Classic Shell for the start menu, bring back windows photo viewer, disable notification center, replace Movies with Media Player Classic, get Firefox, ESET NOD32 Antivirus with trial licenses xd.... kill cortana, get winrar, utorrent, steam, msi afterburner, heaven benchmark... install office 2016...  so on...

If you don't visit ANY suspicios sites and have good backup routines, there isn't much need for antivirus beyond the one baked into W10. At least in my opinion.

I always install:

- MSI Afterburner

- Vivaldi and Firefox web browsers with privacy extensions

- Logitech gaming software (because I use a lot of logitech stuff and it lets you monitor CPU and GPU usage and temps on your phone while gaming)

- CoreTemp, and dock it to the toolbar, so it's always showing CPU usage and core temperatures

- Steam/Origin/games etc

Main rig: i7 8086K // EVGA Z370 Micro // 16GB Gskill TridentZ 3200Mhz CL14 // Sapphire Pulse RX 7800XT// a variety of noctua cooling // Corsair RM750x v2 //  Fractal Meshify C

Secondary rig: R5 3600 // MSI B450i Gaming Plus // 16GB Gskill FlareX 3200CL14 // MSI GTX 1080ti Gaming X // Cooler Master V650 // Fractal Meshify C

Audio setup: Audient iD4 // Adam A7X // Sennheiser HD 650 // Sennheiser HD 25-II // Audio Technica M50x // Sennheiser Momentum 4

Ninite covers most of the basic stuff. Otherwise it's hard to say what you need to install unless knowing what you plan to do with it. And even then choices may vary. E.g some prefer Chrome others Firefox or even Opera.
