i5 6500 overcocking

Seems like my i5 6500 is not up to the task anymore and I'd like to overclock it! I know its a non-k version but I do recall overclocking it with my old MSI z170 pro motherboard with a bios update, wasn't a good overclock but it was overclocked nevertheless. My current mobo is an Asus z-170p, however, for some reason, it has a line of LEDs on the PCB I don't see on other versions. I am not sure if this changes anything. Does anyone know where to find the bios update or how to do it?

Thanks.

Is it specific to my motherboard? I overclocked it with the msi board so I don't see why I couldn't with this Asus board. How can I do the turbo speed?

There is no way to overclock a Non-K CPU. Without alternative methods of course.

Non-K OC lowers the cache speed and screws up the temperature sensors' readings, so dont get worried when these look weird..

For all the guys saying “yOu cAnT oC” there is such a thing as bclk ocing. I think that intel limits this after some mhz. Also, it would be better to keep it at stock for lonvegity sake and try to make it turbo most of the time.

It's not limited by Intel. It's limited by the architecture. It can't handle more than usually 1 or 2 MHz on the baseclock.

BIOS corrupted. Does your board have dual BIOS? If not, try to contact Asus to see if there is a way to force reflash via a USB stick.

Well I got it overclocked quite a bit with a bclk of 120

I will contact asus but so far no video signal on anything.... I guess for now i'll just buy a 50€ h110 board for now until I can get this sorted out. should I get b250?
