usb type c for Hyundai i20

Simon771

Not sure where exactly should I post this, but here it goes.

I bought brand new Hyundai i20 in my country, and with it, I received phone holder as well. It supports up to 5,5'' phone size, so to fit my Galaxy A8 2018, I will need to slightly cut some plastic from this phone holder. But that's not the issues.

My main problem is, that it only comes with lightetning and micro usb for charging. My phone is using Type-C USB, so I can't even connect it on.

I'm wondering if there is any place, that sells something like this, but with usb type-c

Those are OEM Parts, only Hyundai can provide you with the right one if they make it. Or you could desolder the connector and solder a type-c one, dunno about that tho.

No, I'm still waiting for Hyundai to release maybe even bigger phone holder with Type-C … I will probbably buy new phone soon anyway, and it will be ven bigger than this one, so it won't fir in that holder at all.

I'm just using magnet phone holder right now.

I made an adjustment to the dockingstation. Sawed the moving bit in half, placed an aluminium strip on the backside to extend it. Bought an usb micro to usb c adapter and now my Samsung S9 fits in the dockingstation.

Thanks for your photo :)

But I already got OnePlus 6 phone, that doesn't even remotely fit in that phone holder.

With next car I will have to make sure, to pay additional price for embedded navigation.

That's awesome!

Could you please link the parts that were needed for your hack?
I'm rocking a Google 4a and want to use my phone to mount in the holder as well.

So far it's a nightmare to find a part like that...

Thx

Signed up, just to re-kindle this old thread, sorry!

I have an answer to share, with instructions.  You'll need a couple of parts and be able to 3D print. I wrote the Thing after seeing the issues here.  I don't know how long it'll last with rough use.

Thanks! Well, I took the old piece out that had the Apple lightning connector built in, measured the space it left behind, drew it up in Fusion 360, a couple of test prints to get it right and that's what I came up with.

Thank you, really simple and someone could probably improve on it, I'm no pro and only do this kind of thing for personal enjoyment.
