Looking for a CPU to replace my intel pentium g4560

I have been playing my PC almost exclusively for PUBG. The only problem is that the pentium g4560 creates a major CPU bottleneck on my rig with task manager reading high CPU usage of 95% and higher while running the game. Even on max graphics my CPU is still the bottleneck with absolutely no difference in frame rate between max graphics and minimum.

This is my current rig.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mkzgWX

Attached below is a benchmark I found online giving the minimum and maximum frame rates for the cpu's on this game.

For $200 to $300 what would be the best CPU that would not bottleneck a gtx1060 3gb card while being comparable with the rest of my system?

The easiest way I can put this is any CPU with a Cinebench score of 400ish or higher won't bottleneck a GTX 1060.

But the higher ups on this chart is due to single threaded performance.

PUBG is a very CPU intensive game and poorly optimized so this may not apply to this game.

My intel pentium g4560 gets a CPU cinebench score between 296 and 370

The game runs somewhere between 80 and 140 fps always on my system with high settings these days. The only poorly optimized thing about the game are the servers.

Yea, it would have to be somewhere 420 or higher. Anything below wouldn't do. Which would put you in the realm of quadcores. While the Pentiums have multi-thread now and and puts them in the realm of i3-7xxx and lower. It's no quad core.

You can get a 7700K for 315$ or, because of this MOBO, a 7700 for about 300$.

Mine gets to about 30~50% usage while playing PUBG (I think) but definitely not bottlenecking my GTX1080.

It's not worth it to upgrade on that platform, you should probably just save your money for the Ryzen Refresh coming soonish next year, that way you're getting 6c/12 for the same price as the i5, or 8 cores for the price of the kaby lake i7

though we don't know how much faster it'll be than current ryzen, 4.5ghz shouldn't be too much of a stretch though

unless you find a really cheaped used kaby lake chip

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

Ryzen is not optimized for PUBG because PUBG used unreal engine (which is optimized for intel chips). Also I am looking for a cheap fix. Not replacing my entire mobo

Look for a used 6700k on eBay.  You can get them for as low as $220US.

I wouldn't say it's worth it to base your upgrade on one game that's poorly optimized for everyone in general

Do you really think it's worth spending $200 just for 2 more cores on your current platform? It's not much of an upgrade for the money.

Like it's certainly not the best for PUBG, but it makes way more sense to upgrade to an R5 1600/2600 for $200+$70 motherboard and get a larger upgrade overall to a 6 core 12 thread system that will still run the game fine, especially if the Ryzen refresh is running faster per core.

Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($74.49 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $271.77

Yes.  You won't be able to overclock, but it's already significantly better than the locked 6700, and down the line you could get a Z170/Z270 board.

Did you mean a 6700K? because a 6900K is an X99 chip

For sure not a good way to look at things, a better way is that the G4560/i3s/R3s are good for 60hz gaming, as a 580/1060 can easily do 144fps at 1080p in most games on some lower settings with a better CPU.

If intel didn't drop support for the X170/270 platforms you wouldn't be in this situation lol, could go to a 6 core i7 8700 potentially.

But alas.

Likely wait to see the ryzen refresh though, it'll be faster than current gen ryzen at the same prices.

Why did intel drop support?  Just makes me want to switch to join team red

Literally no reason, maybe they could argue power delivery on the lower end boards, but there's plenty of higher end boards capable of running the 6 core chips.
