The 980Ti is older, but it's sort of double the performance of the 1050Ti or more.

 

If you can find it at the same or sort-of price of a 1050Ti, go 980Ti.

Totally 980ti. Even if it's a bit older than the 1050ti but it's more powerful.

definitely the 980Ti.

 

performace wise the 980Ti is on par with the GTX 1070, sometimes it even outperforms the newer pascal cards.

the 1050Ti is way less powerfull, but in turn it is much more power efficient.

overclocked it matches a 1070, 1070ti would be over a Titan X (Maxwell)

Nope, 1070 OC is weaker than a 980 ti OC

I just upgraded from the 970 to the EVGA SSC 1060 6Gb and in Wolfenstein II it performs MUCH, MUCH better than the 970 did, I can attest to that. My Zotac second fan just took a dump and I'm fed up with it....so I went to best buy and laid out $299 out the door for a card that actually is quiet and performs with less power. I love it so far.

 

I was able to actually bump up the AA and some settings as well with no performance hit at all... I was surprised. I think that 3.5 section of the 970 was actually showing up in Wolfenstein because I was seeing issues with stuttering every now and then but now with this card all of that is gone and the experience is buttery smooth even on the old school I5-2500K.... Long Live the Sandy Bridge. Zotac fans are seriously total garbage. I've been reading reviews of even brand new 1060 and up cards and people were saying they had fan issues. I wanted to like them, but they don't allow warranties to be transferred and you basically have to lie in order to get the support. I felt lucky that when my GTX 770 took a dump after 8 months they sent me a 970 for free but it honestly didn't last THAT long. BOTH fans died at different times. Pathetic to be honest.

the 980Ti is superior, however there is also a major price difference. I think for casual or even mid tier gaming the 1050ti performs amazingly well and probably gives you better value for your money. That being said, if you've got 800$ why not go for a 1080? or a 1070ti.

980ti is a great card. Can get around 1080 performance in some games. Generally performance is between 1070 and 1080.
