1050ti vs 1060 3gb

BlueLyfe
Go to solution Solved by BlueLyfe,

On a second thought,I can add SSD later easily its not hard to add and its not pricey.I'll go with 1060 6gb.

Thanks for the replies

Hello guys i am getting a new pc in 3-4 days i am very curios about this stuff.

I have ryzen 3 1300x and 8gb ddr4 ram i am really between these two for gpu(1050ti and 1060 3gb).In benchmarks there is a lot different between these cards and price is very close to one another. If i get 1050ti i can also get SSD as well but if i go with 1060 3gb i cant get SSD for now.Help me out with this bros i am really stuck.I searched a lot and it looks like there isnt much game that go above 3gb vram except for GTA V and Shadow of Mordor.I like to play heavily modded Skyrim a lot and currently i got 2gb VRAM and its really bothering me.

Here is the benchmark i was talking about;

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1060-3GB-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti/3646vs3649

Btw i am not a really hardcore gamer but i want to play my games at good performance without any stutters and stuff like that.

EDIT:

I posted the wrong section my bad.I read the CPU wrong thought it was GPU.If there is any admins if he/she can change the section of the topic would be awesome. Thanks

For heavily modded skyrim, you should check out the RX 570 8GB and the 580 8GB. Those have a lot more VRAM.

Yeah you're in a tough spot. SSD gives you such a better experience.
I'd hate to say "Just save a little more" but that would be the best imho.

The benchmark you chose is trash. Never use those to determine how a card performs, go to an actual tech site that's performed reviews of the card. Always use one source, as they'll use the same benchmarks.

Here's one example. You can use the drop down at the bottom to go through the games they tested, they have both the 1050Ti and 1060 3GB in the list.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/GTX_1050_Ti_G1_Gaming/8.html

As you can see, in BF1 the 1050Ti gets 60 FPS, the 3GB 1060 gets 87 FPS. I think the answer is clear. Go 1060.

given those choices, RX470/570, and RX480/580 either the 4GB or 8GB versions, at the price point they are the fastest cards.

I'm playing GTA5  with an Asus 3GB 1060.  1080p 60fps on high, no problems.  No idea what the 1050Ti does.

But yeah, you really want a 250GB SSD nowadays.

In very high settings how much Vram does GTA V wants?

I've seen VRAM usage fluctuate between 3GB and 3.6GB on very high settings when I had my Fury card.

Why not? One more paycheck would get you the SSD and the 1060.

My current settings and VRAM usage :

I do play in Windowed mode because I usually have stuff on the other monitor and GTA really doesn't like it when you alt-tab out of the game from fullscreen mode, so the actual game resolution is 1914x1052 pixels.

That should've been your first choice honestly. So you've still got a mechanical drive for a few weeks. Unless something drastic happens and kills it, I'm sure you can live with slower load times for a little bit.

Good luck m8
