Should I switch to Ryzen?

My current Rig:

CPU: i5-6600k @4.6 (but can go 4.7 stable)
MOBO: Asrock z170m pro4s
Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 Pro
RAM: 16gb G-Skill Ripjaws 4 @3200
GPU: GTX EVGA 950 FTW
PSU: 550 EVGA Bronze

Im a light gamer mostly, LoL, Overwatch, Rocket League, and sometimes some bigger names like Fallout 4 and Dishonored, but the PC is mostly used for CAD Software and 3D modeling/rendering, Im a Architecture student ,I know that these programs benefit from multi core usage however plan was to upgrade to an i7 when I could afford it. I know that my 6600k is still a strong processor its the reason I bought it in the first place but I cant help feeling that I should sell my CPU and MOBO now to switch to ryzen before Intel starts messing with the used market with the new coffee lake lineup.

I do live near Microcenters so my plan for upgrading would be to replace the processor with either a Ryzen 1400 or any Ryzen 3 CPU for now since black Friday is now in a few months I figure I would wait for the real deals before jumping to Ryzen 7 or possibly Threadripper but most likely I wont need that much power. Im just not sure if this is a smart plan or not but I dont want to be blindsided if the used market suddenly drops off and 4 core cpu's become dirt cheap, I guess though I could use that to my advantage and just get an i7 if that is the case but even then I would be setting myself off to a disadvantage by staying on a dead socket.

Thoughts?

I would wait to see what CFL has to offer, but I would jump to a 6700K or 7700K, if anything.

You dont think that the current gen processors will take a large devaluation on their prices when the new lineup comes out and i3's are now older gen i5 equivalents

They likely will. When you can buy what used to be a $240 CPU for $130, the used ones drop massively...to enthusiasts.

You can likely still sell it on the used market for a good chunk, or if all else fails, eBay; computer hardware always sells for more than it's really worth on there.

Don't go for Threadripper; if you don't think you need that much power, you likely don't. Ryzen is a solid choice, with it's 8c/16t. However, if you're waiting, might as well see what Intel has to offer. They might end up outperforming Ryzen in your use case.

While there's some games where you might already see a hit from a 4/4 processor (i.e. Recon Wildlands or BF1) I think you can be on the i5 at least until Ryzen 2.0 launches (year, year and a half maybe). Light gaming will be just fine and AAA titles will work with only minor concessions and annoyances here and there but we're still some ways away from a 4c/4t chip from being done for.

Stay where you're at for the time being I'd say.
