970 on a 500w psu

so wondering if i can comfortably run a 970 on a evga 80 bronze plus 500w psu? Could I even apply a modest oc? thanks for the help

What are the rest of your specs? 

 

500w is usually okay. No problem running a gtx off a 970.

an old p7h55-m pro motherboard

i5-760 (going to upgrade to a i7-870 or 880)

a 1tb wd drive

128 crucial ssd

16gb ddr3

Unless you're running an FX 9590 with six hard drives and enough LEDs to land a stealth bomber, I would think you're good.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

I'd upgrade first. There might be a bottleneck with your CPU. It's old. Also please quote so I know you've replied. :)

does the cooler effect anything? I was thinking a reference cooler if at the right price.

Ik but currently my 750ti is not getting the job done barely hiting 60 fps on pubg with low/very low presets

PUBG is badly optimised. A new graphics card will barely do much, especially with the bottleneck that will be your CPU. It'll just make it worse. Upgrade the rest of your rig to something in 4th gen.

A lot of that is probably CPU related too, because PUBG is horrendously optimized when it comes right down to it.
