Looking for an Ultrawide monitor

Hey

I've been doing some reseach for a monitor I want to invest in by christmas and I've caught my eyes on Ultrawide displays. I mostly play fps games but also watch lots of Netflix, Series, Movies and do social stuff and school work with programming, modelling and designing.

Currently I have this monitor: http://www.samsung.com/uk/monitors/tv-monitor-t27b300ew/ It's 5 years old and gets unexpected refreshes all the time

I currently have caught my interest on this monitor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-25UM58-P-25-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BV1XB2K/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 because it's from 2016, and although it doesn't have gsync it looks hella sharp and also the size of the monitor seems to be exactly the same size as my current one.

 

TLDR; I need help picking an ultrawide monitor at an acceptable price or one that is dropping in price by christmas time. Got a GTX 1060 and plenty of time. What should i pick? suggestions pls

(ps also does this monitor really do 90 hz as it says on the page, some people say it does only 75 or 60 hz..?)

too small at least get a 29 inch

Most of LG's Ultrawides only hit the rated max refresh rate with an AMD GPU and Freesync

I use that exact LG monitor and i have had a good experience with it, id argue that a 25 inch is fine.. as for netflix, there are few services that offer content in the ultrawide resolutions, meaning you will be playing things in windows often. the same is said for gaming, if a game does suppourt the resolution, it is brilliant, if it doesn't, you'll find yourself looking to build a multi monitor setup including some more conventional displays.....

1060 is more than enough for 3440x1440

UW moniters all comes down to how much you are willing to pay ? Budget are from 350-500, medium is 500-800 then premium is 800 and up, with a 1060 I wouldn't bother going for the x34 or any of the 3440x1440 to run AAA games as it would need the graphics turning down to get good fps which to me defeats the point of buying a high end display, if I was u I would go for the mid range displays @2560x1440 or 2560x1080p for max fps. The choice like I said comes down to how much you are willing to pay for the display ?

just because its 100hz doesnt mean you have to run it at 100hz.. i ran a 4k monitor for 6 months with a gtx 770.. everyone told me that would run.. it did medium high in games just fine if i settled for 30fps! 

 

quick google shows a gtx 1060 will get around 40fps on witcher 3 at ultra detail, 66fps on overwatch, 50fps on GTA V ultra setting and 45fps on ultra doom 3... dont know about you but those frames are more than playable..

I'd much rather just play at 2560x1080 60-75Hz high-ultra and not have to worry about FPS.
