Can Mining Cards Help Lower Cost of Steam Streaming Computer?

With all the talk about mining, the new GPUs by Asus with No I/O, could they be perfect not just for mining, but help lower the cost of a stream PC as well? With streaming, there is no direct link to the cards needed, and for a project like the 10 Gamers 1 PC, could these cards actually help out lowering the cost of the project? Even if it $10 or so a card, the project could have $100 dollars in saving with just that alone.

If the cards actually use the full PCI-e 3.0 x16, that might be feasible indeed.  However they may save money on that because miners typically don't need/use more than x1 bandwidth.

Also, you're going to need to connect a display somehow when installing your OS etc. 

 

As for 10 gamers 1 PC, IIRC each graphics card in that machine was connected to a display.

Connectors and solder is about a dollar. So maybe not. It would work for the application you are talking about though.

Well steam in home streaming needs a monitor connected to the pc to stream. 

 

Also the whole vm streaming with passthrough is messy and shouldn't be used. The correct gpu's for vdi are grid/tesla/some firepros and you don't need any video outs and can use one gpu for multiple users.

Best mainstream use IMO is getting 1 standard card and 10 of these, crossfire and route through the standard card.

Miners don't need high end CPUs (i3s do just fine I've heard), but I can see that being a thing by the motherboard. 

Or perhaps if re purposing a differnt build, which does happen.
