144hz or 4K for gaming?

Hello!

What do people think, go buy an 144hz 2560x1080 monitor or 60HZ 4k monitor?

Can’t afford 4k and 144hz so I need to choose, but not sure what I should go for.

What I am gaming is Dishonored 2, CSGO, Dying light and other story games some strategy games.

My GPU is a GeForce 1070.

If you have any screen you will recommend just link them to me!

im using 1080p 144hz monitor with gtx 1070 and it's way smoother than 60hz monitor.

it's definitely worth it.

for FPS 1080p 144hz for story driven games 4k 60hz or 100hz is enough.

From your game listing, most of them if not all are fps (First Person Shooting). Going 144Hz would be better for your case. Further more, 1070 running 4K 60Hz for those games might have some issue. So basically if you are going to spend money on 4K but yet cannot really enjoy it, no point doing so.

I had a similar choice between 4k IPS 60hz or 144hz TN 144hz w/ g-sync, and I chose the latter, which I feel was a wise decision.

Games, programs, and general windows animations are beautiful at 144hz, and I don't think I'll ever go back to 60hz.

However, if you can snag a g-sync 4k panel, then go with that, as the issues of tearing are somewhat mitigated.

I think you mean 2650x1440, but the answer is that you should never go below 120hz for a gaming monitor.  Period.  I would also add that you should make sure you get a monitor with ULMB, because getting rid of motion blur is a significant improvement in overall gaming experience.  The PG279Q is what I have and other than being a matte finish monitor is about perfect.

Always refresh rate over resolution/size for competitive gaming. For casual gaming, single-player RTS games, or general use, resolution/size over refresh rate.

I got this:

I love it (especially 144Hz, which I could never ever give up now that I've converted), except that the first one was returned due to backlight bleed, and now I notice a slight glow all around the edge of the screen, which I might consider contacting BenQ about, but is ordinarily not noticeable.
