I'm having issues with old servers again.

Quite simply I have a old PRIMERGY RX100 S3 which won't boot, the fans spin up making the usual "quiet" server noises, and lights at the front go green, bar one, which flashes orange but after a few moments it goes quite and all the lights go to orange and it stops working, the flashing light still flashing orange. I have found the manual for the server (below) and using page 23 and 24 found the light what the lights called, j, and what it means, in this case it's a error in components, but considering I have just added new RAM (cause I can't see the old stuff) that should be normal. What's wrong and how do I fix it,

things I've tried-

resetting BIOS through removing the batteruy

pressing the reset ID button

shouting at it (this one works surprisingly well at times, you'd be surprised)

removing the wifi card, just incase that helped for some reason

unplugging keyboard mouse, boot USB drive everything bar the screen

So any other things which I could try or does anyone know what's wrong. I'm gunna try find the original RAM to see if that helps it. But until that point unless you lot find a solution it seams that I have brokeneded it

nope as there is only 3 compatible type of RAM and well they anit easy as none is being sold from the looks of it (pg 182 lists the RAM types)

Servers Can be quite picky with ram and Which slots you put them in. Have you tried following the manual for ram installation?

looking at manual, all four RAM slots have been filled, and it's a quad channel kit from another server, so there shouldn't be an issue with installation I think

I'm not saying its the RAM, but......it could be the RAM. I've never used that server, i didnt even know Fujitsu made servers lol.

But as an example I have 3 different makes of RAM sitting right next to me that came out of various servers - all of them are DDR3 ECC PC8500 1.5v Non-buffered - and only 1 of the kits works in the HP DL360 G6

neither did I, till today, and I have owned at least 2 for several months. And yea I have a feeling that might be the case, which is a bit of a pain as I dunno where the proper RAM kit is for this one.

1. also having long stating comptions also work! (trust me, i had one with our long term storage server and i won, you know how i know i won, the hard drive indicator "blinked", ha ha ha ha ha ha, it's not funny)

2. most server opereating systems don't have wifi support and can't use it without add ons or extra software.

anyways, as many server enthusiasts know, servers are PICKY with RAM.... more picky than a kid being fed those healthy brownies by their mother

most of the time it's trial and error, use any ram that fits into the server and that you know works, also some servers won't boot without a RAM kit from the manufacturer and that makes it really hard to work with

with the long talks I have tried, it hasn't worked it's too stubborn to, as for WIFI, it's an old PCI (non-E) one so I have no use for it, (got given it for pennies so meh) so I would happily have extra software for it maybe. I mean I wasn't sure what I was gunna do with this server to be honest I was debating between pfsense box, webserver thingy for a website I was tempted to set up, because fuck it why not, or email server which would just be cool to have

I think I need one of those special RAM kits, which I obviously can't get, as they aren't made anymore and no one seams to be selling them :(

it's usually worth it to ask around, quite a lot of knowledge can be learned just be asking around and learning the answer

and no, not all of it can be found online, quite a lot of it isn't documented online due to various reasons
