This is crap speeds for me when I'm paying $60.00 to $70.00 (with Bell's $20.00 add on for unlimited usage) for 5 Mbps download and 800 Kbps upload. So stupid too is that I will never get Fibre internet or TV on my street but yet the street next to me gets it. Reason being is because I have the old old version of the box (that the wires connect to then get split up to the houses) and they won't replace it until it gets damage (because no new houses are being built). Stupid Bell Canada keeps saying, "We're expanding our Fibre Optic to different areas each day." When I ask when will I be getting Fibre on my street.

If you wan't to take most out of your internet you will need router with QoS and set the actual max bandwith your ISP advertises to download and upload, else your internet will download and accelerate slowly, but setting QoS will make it accelerate to max speed right away in a second instead of few seconds.

 

Here is mine.

That is a good tip but not for me. I had one of the Bell Canada guys test the wires that are connected to the brown box to my house. Reads 2 Megabits per second download which is roughly what I get in Kilobytes per second when downloading.

You think that is bad this is my parents connection. It is supposed to be a lot faster than dial up, but they do live in the Wop Wops.(Kudos to anyone who under stands what this is)

Yeh in New Zealand right down the bottom of it to, they live out in the middle of now where. This is the best I could squeeze out of it when I was up there last weekend was this but is not the normal speed.

Local ISP's backbone has been upgraded, so now my upload speed is a bit better:

Maybe I should find a Gbit SFP module and try. I know someone else at the dorm runs at about 10x this, both ways, on a Gbit SFP module :D
