Ultrawide Monitor Recommendations

From Canada and want to upgrade from a 6 year old 24" 1080p 60 Hz TN panel.

Are there any displays coming out this year that fit this criteria?

  • 34" Ultrawide
  • 1440p
  • IPS panel preferred
  • 75+ Hz
  • Freesync (don't want to pay for G-sync marked up prices, Vega is releasing soon)
  • Has a vesa mount (unless it has a nice adjustable sturdy stand)
  • Minimal light bleed
  • curved

I considered getting the LG 34UC88, but it has an image retention issue which kills it for me.

I'd go with the Acer personally. They're gorgeous and fit right into what you're looking for.

I can't remember the model name, as their all so close and just a jumble of numbers and letters but it'd be easy to find on their site.

Despite the AMD preference I still think the ROG Swift PG348Q  is one of the nicest ultra wide 1440p on the market, curved screen is definitely a plus.

I have the exact same issue as you and made a post probably around same time. I would like the same spec as you and the LG 34uc88 seems perfect. The stand is also one of the smallet stands for an ultra wide out there. The Asus stand have to much stand going back towards the wall meaning if you don't vesa it will be very close to face. How deep is your table? Mine is 60cm and I haven't gone with the flagship ultra wides because of the stand issue.

Also do we know how bad and Likey the screen retention is. If you look up any monitor there will be sme one who has had problems with it.

You should have a look at the newer Samsung CF791. I now see it is on sale at Amazon for $100 less than last week at $849.00. It is considered a gamers panel at 100Hz and 4ms. It's a VA panel so it doesn't have as good of viewing angles as an IPS panel but it has better contrast, better blacks and whites than an IPS panel. It also has the most curve of all curved monitors out there and is using Samsung's Quantum Dot technology supporting sRGB 125%. This is the panel I want to get but I'm waiting later this summer to purchase at the same time I upgrade my GTX 780 Ti.

My table width is about 70cm. As long as the stand can support swivel, height adjust and tilt, I won't have to use a mount as a substitute. I like to view my monitors at eye level and would be nice to adjust it when watching a movie.

The Acer XR342CK also fits this criteria as well. But this product has so few reviews, I'm really skeptical about making the purchase on it either. With Vega coming out, I'm sure there will be more displays coming out eventually in this coming year.
