What speed is my CPU working at?

My CPU is I7 3770s, stock speed is 3.1ghz (turbo up to 3.9), I clocked it to 3.9ghz in bios, but i've got 3 different showings for CPU speed, look at pictures. So can anyone tell me which result is correct?

My mobo is: Mobo link specification

Task manager shows the current speed. CPU-Z shows the clock speed, but not at what it is currently going. Correct me if I am wrong.

Intel Ark says base 3.1 and boost 3.9, so I call BS on the task managers 4.17 GHz claim.

usually cpuz is pretty accurate but that also seems weird. does the frequency change at all?

I doesn't change. it's always the same. I believe that cpu-z is correct one, because CPU temperatures are quite low, max 55-57 C...

CPU can't be overclocked so it works on its boost clock on max usage

Task manager is hilariously wrong. If that processor was overclocked it would read 6GHz+ in task manager. Don't ask why, i've no idea. Happened to my 3570K. 

 

CPU-Z is always what you want to go by. It shows current CPU speed. You don't always have to be under load for a processor to boost depending on C-States and performance profiles.

It shouldn't be able to go over 3.9GHz because it's not unlocked.

Try OpenHardwareMonitor

OP can still increase the boost by 4 or so bins. up to 4.3GHz single core and 3.9GHz quad core. Plus the 5% from BCLK.

I believe its my mobo that doesnt allow me to clock to 3.9... its pretty cheap with non-gaming chipset...

I'm well aware how Intel Turbo Boost works. 

 

If OP wants to they can apply up to 4300MHz for single thread use.

No such thing as a gaming or non-gaming chipset. You'll need a Z series board to apply boost bin i think. Not worth the hassle trying to find one though.

a) Mobo is the problem, but there is no such things as a "gaming" chipset. All "gaming" motherboards are usually just red and black or have extra features like RGB.

b) To OC properly you need a Z-series board AND a K CPU. You can OC a bit with a Z board and locked CPU, but the OC would be mild and only from BCLK

CPU-Z shows the real clock speed at the "Clocks" section. The factory clock is in the "Specification" section.
