Help. SSD dying.

Wolf585

Help. My ssd is dying and I can't even log into windows. My files started getting corrupted today and when I restarted and logged (tried) in. It said object not found. (For pin entry). The regular password doesn't work either, and I need to get some stuff off it before it just dies. Most of my things are on my HDD, but still, I would have to go through getting a new ssd and installing everything again.

Try using a Windows ISO to fix the OS.

Ideas:

  • Use a Windows disc and run sfc /scannow. This replaces any corrupt windows files with fresh ones from the install CD.
  • Check the drive using a trial version of Hard Disk Sentinel, --> http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel.php
    • The drive may have run out of writes. HD Sentinel will tell you.
  • Clone the drive to a new SSD. I auto run an image backup of my SSD to another drive in my tower, so if anything goes wrong my OS is only at most a week old.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yea it died. I'm just running on the hard drive now, which actually performs better than the ssd.
