Laptops under $200 usd

I was wondering what kind of laptops or Windows tablets are out there for under $200 , as I want something portable as a secondary machine because I have my desktop at home. And I want it in the sub 12" screen size.

Tons of options if you look at used/refurbs.  You could get an older i3/i5 laptop, possibly with a dedicated gpu.  If battery is not an issue I'd go that way.

For new there's mainly chromebooks, which I wouldn't really recommend as a 'secondary machine'.  Try to up your budget to $250-$300 and you'll find some decent options in the celeron/pentium braswell series or even a last gen i3.  This has the advantage of being new and more battery efficient, but not as powerful.

Has an intel atom.  It's gonna be very slow and little storage.  Look for at least a celeron n3050 laptop if you go new.

At 40 bucks then it's not too bad.

Even then you can have something better for web browsing.  Chrome can get demanding these days. :P

To me if this is your only use case, you could take a shot with an older laptop and little or no risk at the budget we're speaking of.

No I want new not used.

why your budget is really limited, something new would be really bad in terms of value.

I guess you could get a Chromebook and route everything through Google's cloud based options like Google drive, docs, sheets, etc. If you want something new at that price for under $200 USD you're going to end up with something on par with those "Windows ready" laptops that was discontinued way back when. Basically it'll become a paper weight after a year or 2 unless you get a nice Chromebook or something.
