Source 1: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/587327-it-finally-happ OP: NateGSR117

Source 2: http://www.engadget.com/2016/04/25/time-warner-cable-charter-acquisition-approved/

  • Purchased by Charter Communications

  • The deal was estimated at $78 billion

  • The US department of Justice approved and FCC chairman Tom Wheeler spoke in favor of the deal on Monday

    • Note: this still needs to be approved by the FCC itself - at this point, Tom Wheeler supports the acquisition but the FCC has not given official approval

  • There are caveats to the deal

    • Charter is not allowed to impede access to streaming content

    • Not allowed to impose data caps or charge usage-based prices

    • Not allowed to charge interconnection fees

  • Wheeler says that “All three seven-year conditions will help consumers by benefitting [online video provider] competition.” (Unclear what he means by seven-year conditions - can they impose data caps and impede access after 7 years is up?...)

  • This also covers Charter’s purchase of Bright House Networks, a cable provider that has most of its market share in Florida, for $10.4 billion

  • Bangladesh’s central bank was vulnerable to hackers because it did not have a firewall

  • Used second-hand, $10 switches to network computers connected to the SWIFT global payment network

  • Shortcomings made it easier for hackers to break into the system earlier this year

  • Head of the Forensic Training Institute Mohammad Shah Alam said “it could be difficult to hack if there was a firewall”

  • Lack of sophisticated switches, means it is difficult for investigators to figure out what the hackers did and where they might have been based

  • Police believe both the bank and SWIFT should take the blame for the oversight, Alam said in an interview

13:00 - Flo Rida racing game => Hope in awesomeness, only other good racing mobile racing game WAS "Real Racing 3" from EA (guess what happened there) before they PermaBAN users with edited save file (modified currencies).

22:00 - VR liability issue => Hope some developers (hopefully Oculus) catch up with US, lazy gamers, and STOP directing their product from WII stand-up/walk usability and focus more or sits down with controller type of thing. Like they are already doing with Day-One support with Project: CARS.

42:00 - HW sells drop => truth, I'm of those guys who still rock old LGA775 Core2Quad Q9550 cpu (OC ofc). IT IS a bottleneck while multitasking, its still strong enough for 1080p 60fps H265 or 1440p others game/encode/decode projects. AND IT'S VR READY!!! (viz my other post)

===> tbh. I'm waiting for "Acer Switch Alpha 12", cause 12" tablet with Skylake CPU and M.2 would be awesome as long as it has long battery life and ThunderBolt (Razer Core).
