Bad. Just use MBAM, Windows Defender and Windows Firewall.

So I'm getting a new pc built, and it comes with a free version of mcafee antivirus, and I was wondering should I just uninstall this, and get a better antivirus. If so what are better antivirus programs or will mcafee be good enough.

Windows firewall screws SO much up...

I typically turn it off. But for a user who might not be super aware of the dangers of the internet it is much better than nothing.

McAfee is worthless. For free I recommend Avast!, which works amazing and protected me so many times, even from malicious advertisements. For a paid antivirus I like Kaspersky a lot, since it really takes EVERYTHING into account, while leaving you a lot of freedom. There's even a gaming mode in Kaspersky, which allows you to turn of it's notifications during fullscreen gaming sessions.

McAfee does it's job but it's an extreme resource hog that has the potential to cause plenty of issues.  I personally wouldn't recommend it for personal home use but it is pretty reliable in large scale enterprise situations.
