PSU for 960GTX

Mchedlo

Helloooo forum! ^_^ long story short, I need a PSU for my build. Its: i5 4430, 8GB DDR3 RAM 1600mhz, HDD 500GB WD, Mobo: Asus B85M-G R2.0 and GPU 960GTX SSC 4GB/2GB (will buy it in a week or so). so whats good PSU for my build? before I was planning on buying EVGA 550W GS, which costs about 90$. I asked on forum and people told me that its one of the best PSU which I can choose for my build. but I found recently EVGA 500W B1 (80 + bronze) which costs 48$  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGHKK7M?redirect=true&ref_=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i2

or 500W regular which costs 40$ and is Best Seller http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33SFJU?keywords=500w&qid=1446046072&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

I don't mind that extra 10$ :D  im just asking will 500W be enough for my build? since its Maxwell architecture (gpu) and needs less power. and no im not planning on upgrading anything at least 2 years.

EDIT: will those PSUs have 8pin/6 pin connectors for GTX 960? I don't remember it needs 8 or 6 :S

300W would be enough for your build.

But B1 is better.

R9 380 is superior to the 960 for the same price.

As for PSU - B1 and W1 are crap - GS is better

500 will be more than enough for you

I have heard that its always better to have that extra power just in case. recommended PSU for my GPU is 400W so that's why I thought that 500W will be enough. so im glad it will be enough! :)

Recommended 400W is already with the extra added.

I know that GS is better than B1 and W1 (B1>W1 right? ) but if there is no need for GS, I would stay with B1/W1

Do you WANT a cheap unreliable PSU? If so, get B1 or W1.

The B1 should be fine.  For an 960 you could go even lower wattage, but at least that would offer you some room to upgrade.

He won't need a GS if he's getting a 960 though.  Or he could even go for a lower wattage gold rated PSU like a Seasonic G.

A cheap Nvidia GPU is no excuse for a shitty PSU. He could still end up killing his system

So B1 is better than W1 right? (just making sure) well if I will upgrade, I will still need to replace PSU cuz I will buy 970 or 980

Better than W1? yes

God PSU? no

It's based on the Fortron Raider platform - a notably crappy one.

it's not shitty. You are so annoying with the psu talk man. It literally boils my blood.

Is the B1 notorious for shorting systems?  Is this a quality control issue or a spec issue?

no, but according to him anything that's not seasonic and gold is trash.

It's by FSP and based on a crappy platform - uses chinese/taiwanese caps and it's performance is lackluster.

yes. it will probably only last 15 years instead of 25.  :(

b1 has a two 6+2 connectors which will be enough for any single gpu.

Did you know that the FSP raider bronze actually fails voltage regulations, overvolts the system and kills components over the span of a year? No? Good! Now you do.
