First Water Loop- Let the Adventure Begin

Hey all,

I am adding my first custom water cooling loop to my rig. It has been in the planning stage for a few months, and I finally had the cash to order some stuff. It is a CPU only loop right now, but I bought a D5 so I can add a second rad and a 780 in a month or 2. This is my first attempt to water cool so if you have anything major you'd like to point out, feel free.

All parts bought from DazMode in Ontario :D

Parts List:

EK- Supreme LTX CSQ (DazMode Edition)

EK-CoolStream RAD XT 240

EK-D5 X-RES TOP 140 CSQ

EK 3/8" 1/2" Nickel Compression Fittings + 1 EK 90 degree Adapter

DazMode Protector Liquid Additive (adding to distilled water)

EK-UNI Holder 50/70 (X-Res mounting)

D5 Vario

I am working a lot this week so expect an update thursday night. Definitely will have some fun with this on the weekend :D

Let the adventure begin!

Do not over tighten the compression fittings, handtight will do.

Do no overtighten the fittings in acrylic blocks, the block will break.

On metal blocks, give the compression fitting 1/8th of a turn with some pliers and a cloth.

Res above pump.

Check for leaks at least a few hours [i personally do 24h]

Check for leaks when stress testing [higher water pressure, cracked a block of mine before, so check while heating up the components].

That's all I can think of right now ;)

Frost upon these cigarettes.... lipstick on the window pane...

Everything I ordered from Daz was at competitive prices, other than the reservoir. And international shipping direct from EK would cost be a lot more than from DazMode

Update time :D

Res + pump = installed!

CPU block = installed!

So I had to attack my 5.25" bays with a dremel to make my res fit where I wanted it to, so I masked it up went to town. Sorry for no in-progress shots :( Only before and after. And they look like shit cause my Blackberry camera sucks :P

Masked up and ready to be attacked.

post-6307-0-15815700-1376601831.jpg

After the cutting I covered the edges in electrical tape (if you can even tell by the picture) while I wait on some u-channel to cover it correctly and nicely.

post-6307-0-77982100-1376601924.jpg

I then drilled some holes in the bottom of my 5.25" bay so I could use my EK 50/70 brackets to attach the EK D5 UNI Holder that comes with the X-Res. Here it is all mounted and ready for radiator and tubing! :D

Finally I got a hold of my parents decent camera so this pic is not bad. The res is straight despite the fish eye effect from the camera

I'm 15 too lol 16 soon enough though. I was trying to go for a clean as possible look, and I'll have to watch alpenwassers video on lacing. That would really  tidy up my wires.

Thanks a lot :P

I agree, sleeved tube would look really nice with that blacked out look on the board.

I'll try to get around to posting an update with some temps, I'm just busy lately and don't have too much time
