Custom Theme colors.
In Windows 10, there are only a certain number of predetermined colors. You can't create your on like in Windows 7 & 8. This setting changes that.post-81427-0-48480100-1438180195_thumb.j

Get title bar colors back! This will be included by default in the October update for Windows 10.
In Windows 10, Microsoft removed the title bar colors for Windows Desktop Applications, with this setting, you can restore them back to Windows 8 style.post-81427-0-32200300-1438180221.jpg

Disable the new lock screen.
the new lock screen can be annoying on desktops without touch screens, If you want to jump right in, use this tweak! post-81427-0-00432700-1438180237.jpg

Get the old volume slider back

Here's the pretter new one,

The new start menu, it's pretty good, but it still needs some work. I'll show you what needs to be done.

Is your start menu and task bar black? Yes? do you hate it? Yes? Then make sure ya do this: Go into settings > Personalization > color. Below all of the color swatches, make sure both of the toggles are on.

Quick links can be very useful in the start menu. Here's how to add them.

Go into settings > Personalization > Start. Click 'Choose which folders appear on Start'. You can add as many as you may find helpful. post-81427-0-57130700-1438182058_thumb.j

You can make it your start menu. Want modern tiles with lots of info? sure.

Whatever you want, you can have it! (for the most part)

III- Get Rid of ALL instances of Modern Apps, Including the store!

If you are completely old school and want to remove all aspects of Modern Apps from your PC, here's how to do it.

  • Open an Elevated (admin) Windows PowerShell.
  • Type this to remove all Metro apps from all user accounts

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

Or from just the Current User account

Get-AppXPackage | Remove-AppxPackage

And That's it!

This command will make sure that Modern apps don't keep coming back to your user account even after you uninstalled them.
That's it! Note that in Windows 10, the Store app can be uninstalled and once you uninstall it, I don't see a way to get it back unless some updates to the OS reinstate it. Also, some apps cannot be uninstalled like the Contact Support app, Cortana, Photos, Microsoft Edge, Windows Feedback app and of course the Settings app. Also, the Store app made its way back to my system via some update.

IV- Remove Homegroup and Quick Access from Windows Explorer

In Windows 10, Quick access and sometimes HomeGroup can show up in the navigation pane of Windows 10's File Explorer. If you have no use for them.

To remove Homegroup, Click here

To remove Quick Access, Click here

V- Control Panel GodMode

To get the infamous GodMode [all control panel items] in Windows 10, all you have to do is make a new folder, and name it 'GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}' That's it!

VI- Disable ALL Telemetry in Windows 10.

Simply follow this guide HERE

VII- Uninstall & Remove Cortana.

I'll change your mind for this one, once it's done.

Probably not. It'll be a topic of "Huh, neat." but I probably won't use it for quite some time since this install of 8.1 isn't even a month old I don't think.

No, but it sometimes comes back with updates to the OS.

Well I found a solution to get the store back but it looks like it also gets all the original apps back.

Run this command in Windows PowerShell

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
