Hidden thingy inside phone battery

Litargirio
Go to solution Solved by Nexxus,

its a NFC antenna whoever does this/believes it is an idiot. Period.

GG you just ruined a function of your phone.

there is no acid

Shhh, they don't need to know that.

Hell if they're dumb enough to think there's a NSA SPEAKER in their battery, then let them be dumb enough to think that touching their battery at all will cause massive damage to their hands, in the form of crazy russian acid burns.

Maybe the girl is just young. Cut her some slack for now. Curiosity is good. Well, random connections to conspiracies not so much but there's time for improvement. If the person was just totally apathetic to whatever happened in the innards of an Iphone, that's not very good either.

Nothing wrong with being curious, buy why not research what the parts first, before tearing it out of a working device

I dont know what some of the parts in my car do, but I dont just rip them out

If you are old enough to use a smart phone you are old enough to know batteries are not to be tampered with.

Oh and there is nothing about curiosity here, there at least one incredibly unconvincing video out there making this claim and telling people to remove it.

I don't know, but I've also heard many stories of inventors and engineers that rip stuff out even though they can't put it back.

inventors and engineers

Maybe when researching or taking apart a device for inspection.. not because they think the NSA is listening :P

So... does anyone know what that thing actually is? Or is it really a chip to allow for the government to spy on you?   :D

Do you (and also her) realise that they can listen to your phone call without actually installing a bug inside your phone?

Heck I live near one of the biggest electronics monitoring stations, if they want to hear your call, they dont need to put anything inside your phone

Yes, which is why I made sure I pointed out that making random connections to conspiracies wasn't part of a healthy curiosity lol.

I dont care how young they are, I was taught batteries can be dangerous and not to be screwed with before grade 4.

It's funny how almost nobody notices that those screenshots are old, and it was a prank on reddit, there was also a youtube video of a guy peeling their NFC tags saying it's NSA spying device. I suggest you visit other sites other than LTT to get in touch with what's trending for trolls.

It's the chip that allows a phone's NFC feature to work in the first place.

On the Galaxy S3 and newer (before the S6), the words "Near Field Communication" is printed on the battery.

There's a billion ways the NSA could spy on you. This isn't one of them.

Also, never, EVER, screw around with a battery, especially Li-Ion cells inside your smartphone.

They have a probability of having some nasty acid inside and using it without the label may also cause it to explode, according to one guy.

If more people do this, I hope they know their mistake, because a phone exploding in your pocket is an extremely terrible sensation. That nearly happened to me when I had the S3.
